The tented suites will maintain their authentic, classic safari atmosphere, while boasting new additions including daybeds, lighter interiors and convenient butler hatches. A massage sala and fitness centre will be new additions along with a coffee and gin bar, Safari Shop and a spacious family suite.Two refurbishments in andBeyond Phinda Private Game Reserve, South AfricaFollowing a fire in December 2016, andBeyond Phinda Homestead is being rebuilt with plans to reopen on 1 September 2018. The exclusive-use villa is being reimagined as a contemporary bush home with quirky accents that hark back to the reserve’s past as a pineapple farm, alongside traditional motifs. The private home will also feature furniture that brings in hints of 1980s retro design, with minimalist, elegant bedrooms. The deck outside will boast an island bar to encourage family gatherings, while a decorative herb garden will be situated outside the kitchen. Reservations are now open.Phinda Vlei Lodge is also undergoing refurbishment, with interiors inspired by the elegant, turn-of- the-century plantation-style homestead of KwaZulu-Natal’s sugar cane and pineapple barons. A library will be added to the guest areas, and the dining deck will also be extended to allow for covered al fresco dining with views of the adjoining wetland. The lodge will reopen 1 June 2018.Opening of andBeyond Tengile River Lodge, South AfricaSituated in the prestigious Sabi Sand Game Reserve, this brand-new property will share the same traversing rights as andBeyond Kirkman’s Kamp. Elegant interiors by Anatomy Design will call to mind the same authentic feel, translated into a more modern fashion. Boasting a name that means tranquil, andBeyond Tengile River Lodge will feature nine floating suites that will look out over the Sand river, plus a spa and gym area. Environmentally friendly construction materials have been selected with durability in mind.
