Paul Pogba 1 Chelsea and Manchester United target Paul Pogba will not be moving anywhere in January, according to the player’s agent. The Frenchman has impressed for Juventus once again this season and Europe’s big clubs are circling.Chelsea and United both want to lure the midfielder to England, while Barcelona and Bayern Munich are keen too.But Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, has revealed that his client will be going nowhere during the upcoming transfer window.“Pogba is no longer a surprise,” Raiola told Mediaset.“He’s not a youngster just being discovered. A player with his talent is known to everybody. There have been offers for him, and they’re still there.“Last summer he decided to stay another year at Juve, and he kept his word. We’re not preoccupied with thoughts of his future, we’re thinking about that.“Paul is a lad who decides with his heart, and at the moment he’s focused on Juventus. I can categorically rule out a move in January.“In the future we’ll see, we’ll talk at the end of July.”
Santi Cazorla 1 Arsene Wenger has conceded Santi Cazorla could be out until March after suffering knee ligament damage in last weekend’s draw at Norwich. The Spain international played on at Carrow Road despite taking a heavy knock in the early stages of the second half as Arsenal’s injury woes continued.Laurent Koscielny had already been forced off with an early hip problem and Alexis Sanchez then pulled up with a hamstring injury. Those two players were substituted but Cazorla played on – with Wenger now admitting he may be without the influential midfielder for up to four months.“It is possible,” Wenger said when asked about reports the 30-year-old being sidelined until March.“Ideally you want them all to be with you but we are prepared to deal with it. It is a big miss with players like that but it is a opportunity for players to come in and fill in and show they have the quality and that they are fresh and that can give a good impact to the team.“The players injured in the last two weeks will not play tomorrow and who is back maybe in the squad could be Laurent Koscielny, and Theo Walcott will be a decision tomorrow morning.”Sanchez will be seen as a key loss to Wenger’s ambitions as the Premier League enters a busy festive period and the Gunners face a must-win Champions League tie in Olympiacos on Wednesday.Wenger highlighted Sanchez being pushed into the Carrow Road camera pit by Norwich’s defender Ryan Bennett as a potential reason for his own injury. The Frenchman refused to put a time-frame on the hamstring issue but again defended his decision to play the Chile international at Norwich after a long run of games for club and country.“I don’t know, honestly,” he said of Sanchez’s possible return.“Alexis is a hamstring but I don’t know how long it will take, it is usually a quick one to recover while Cazorla we don’t know until he sees a specialist.“Alexis had four weeks holiday, he was rested in some games and had all the medical signs to say he was okay to play between Dinamo Zagreb and Norwich.“Nobody suggested that he could displace his back or his hamstring. When he was pushed into the boards on the side of the field that did not shock anybody. That injury can come from that as well.“I’m not expert enough to know but if you want to blame me I’m okay with it.”While Koscielny may be fit in time to face Sunderland on Saturday, with Walcott also likely to return to the squad, Wenger is still without a number of key figures as the likes of Francis Coquelin, Danny Welbeck, Jack Wilshere and Mikel Arteta remain out.

AD Quality Auto 360p 720p 1080p Top articles1/5READ MOREGame Center: Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs, Sunday, 10 a.m.How could something searing possibly soothe? Bite a hot pepper, and after the burn your tongue goes numb. The hope is that bathing surgically exposed nerves in a high-enough dose will numb them for weeks, so that patients suffer less pain and require fewer narcotic painkillers as they heal. “We wanted to exploit this numbness” is how Dr. Eske Aasvang, a pain specialist in Denmark who is testing the substance, puts it. Chili peppers have been part of folk remedy for centuries, and heat-inducing capsaicin creams are a drugstore staple for aching muscles. But today the spice is hot because of research showing that capsaicin targets key pain-sensing cells in a unique way. California-based Anesiva Inc.’s operating-room experiments aren’t the only attempt to harness that burn for more focused pain relief. WASHINGTON: Doctors are experimenting with a chemical that makes peppers hot as a numbing agent during painful surgeries. Devil’s Revenge. Spontaneous Combustion. Hot sauces have names like that for a reason. Now scientists are testing whether the stuff that makes the sauces so savage can tame the pain of surgery. Doctors are dripping the chemical that gives chili peppers their fire directly into open wounds during knee replacement and a few other highly painful operations. Don’t try this at home: These experiments use an ultra-purified version of capsaicin to avoid infection – and the volunteers are under anesthesia so they don’t scream at the initial burn. Harvard University researchers are mixing capsaicin with another anesthetic in hopes of developing epidurals that wouldn’t confine women to bed during childbirth, or dental injections that don’t numb the whole mouth. And at the National Institutes of Health, scientists hope early next year to begin testing in advanced cancer patients a capsaicin cousin that is 1,000 times more potent, to see if it can zap their intractable pain. Nerve cells that sense a type of long-term throbbing pain bear a receptor, or gate, called TRPV1. Capsaicin binds to that receptor and opens it to enter only those pain fibers – and not other nerves responsible for other kinds of pain or other functions such as movement. These so-called C neurons also sense heat; thus capsaicin’s burn. But when TRPV1 opens, it lets extra calcium inside the cells until the nerves become overloaded and shut down. That’s the numbness. “It just required a new outlook about … stimulation of this receptor” to turn those cellular discoveries into a therapy hunt, says the NIH’s Dr. Michael Iadarola. Enter Anesiva’s specially purified capsaicin, called Adlea. Experiments are under way involving several hundred patients undergoing various surgeries, including knee and hip replacements. Surgeons drip either Adlea or a dummy solution into the cut muscle and tissue and wait five minutes for it to soak in before stitching up the wound. Among early results: In a test of 41 men undergoing open hernia repair, capsaicin recipients reported significantly less pain in the first three days after surgery, Aasvang reported this month at a meeting of the American Society of Anesthesiologists. Ongoing studies are testing larger doses in more patients to see whether the effect is real.160Want local news?Sign up for the Localist and stay informed Something went wrong. PALMDALE – Palmdale High School is offering a $200 reward for information leading to those responsible for a break-in over the holiday weekend that caused an estimated $15,000 in loss and damages. Burglars broke into seven or eight portable classrooms, prying loose metal security-window grates, and stole laptop computers and projectors. “It looked like they were going after technological devices such as projectors and laptops,” Principal Eric Riegert said. “You can use projectors for Super Bowl parties and use them for big-screen TVs. They are very high quality.” The break-in was discovered Sunday by the school’s football coaching staff, Riegert said. 160Want local news?Sign up for the Localist and stay informed Something went wrong. Football statistics experts WhoScored assess what could be a incredible signing by Liverpool, should they sneak in and snap up N’Golo Kante from Leicester City. Read on to see how the French sensation could fit in to Jurgen Klopp’s plans and check out WhoScored’s Liverpool stats page, here. It’s seemingly easier to identify a team who haven’t been linked with a move for N’Golo Kante this summer given the raft of interest in the France international. A dominant debut season in England’s top tier has seen a majority of the clubs sit up and take notice of the tough tackling 25-year-old. While Leicester are understandably keen to retain the services of their star midfielder, they could be powerless to resist the temptation to sell if a big money bid for one of their prized assets lands on Claudio Ranieri’s desk. The latest team to be linked with a move for the player is Liverpool, who are looking to strengthen their midfield this summer. Kante’s WhoScored.com rating last season (7.61) ranked among the top 10 Premier League players, further reinforcing the high level of interest in the midfielder. Given the high pressing approach implemented by manager Jurgen Klopp, Kante seems the ideal acquisition for the Reds. The Leicester star made more tackles (175) and interceptions (156) than any other player in Europe’s top five leagues last season. He ranked third for possession won in the midfield third (162) in England’s top tier last term. As far as perfectly suited midfielders in a Klopp system go, they don’t get much better than Kante. The one concern, however, would be whether he could transition from a team that sits back to hit teams on the counter to one that looks to dominate proceedings. In his final season in France, only Guingamp (44.1%) averaged less possession than former side Caen (44.7%) in Ligue 1, while Leicester averaged the third least possession (44.8%) in their title winning campaign. For teams that won’t see much of the ball, Kante is the ideal ball winner to help regain possession in the middle of the attack to spring swift counter attacks. For Leicester last season, who could call on Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy, this tact worked to perfection.Liverpool, though, averaged a strong 55% possession in the Premier League, the fifth highest last term. Any qualms over whether Kante would struggle in a team routinely on the front foot, though, went some way to being quashed on Friday night, with the midfielder playing a starring role in France’s 2-1 win. The Euro 2016 hosts averaged 59% possession in the victory, with Les Bleus dominant from the outset, despite the scoreline. In Paris, Kante had more touches (101) and attempted more passes (86) than any other player on the pitch and had the best pass success rate (91.9%). As capable as playing in a team that dominates matches as he is a side that is set up to defend deep, Kante is the ideal defensive midfielder for any team. For Liverpool, he’d likely play alongside Emre Can in the middle of the park, with Kante’s seemingly limitless energetic displays freeing up the German to maximise his distribution qualities. No matter who he signs for, however, Kante would make for an astute acquisition. Liverpool aren’t the only side reportedly in the running to sign the France international this summer and if they do firm up their interest, competition for his signature will be high. However, if the Reds can convince Kante to move to Anfield, Liverpool’s squad will be all the stronger in their pursuit of a return to the Champions League. For more stats on N’Golo Kante, click here to view his WhoScored.com player page… 1 Liverpool target N’Golo Kante in action for France
KAPALUA, Hawaii – Lucas Glover became the first player to make a hole-in-one in the eight years the Mercedes Championships has been played at Kapalua, using a 5-iron to ace the 203-yard eighth hole. Glover bent over is disbelief, then exchanged a high-five with playing partner Mark Calcavecchia. Along with getting into contention at the season-opening event, Glover won a Mercedes-Benz CLS55 AMG, a value of $87,375. Glover got into the field by holing a 35-foot bunker shot on the final hole of the Funai Classic at Disney in October.
