(PHOTO/File)Mike Mutebi admitted KCCA were far from their best on Wednesday during their one-all draw with URA at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo. The defending champions were forced to settle for a draw after URA proved a hard nut to crack ending their five game winning streak.Mutebi had prior the game said ‘we are going to treat every game like a final because we are playing catch up’ but on Wednesday, it didn’t seem like his charges had received the memo as they let their visitors dominate play especially in the first half. The Tax Collectors took an early lead through Ashraf Mandela before KCCA coming live in the second half eventually levelling matters through teenager Allan Okello.“It is a competitive league and today we played one of the best sides in the league, so a point for us was good enough,” Mutebi said.“We would have like three points, but we couldn’t because of some careless mistakes. But overall I think it was a good game and for us, it is an important point because like I told you, we are playing catch up.“So every point we gain adds to the number we require in our quest to defend the league.”KCCA had won all their last five games in the league. They did themselves a great deal of favour over the weekend by beating a direct rival in Vipers, but against Sam Ssimbwa’s side, couldn’t quite find the mojo. The result is one that indeed renders KCCA’s remaining games ‘must wins’ if they are to retain the trophy. Four games are left, and if table leaders Vipers overcome Maroons in their last game in the first round on Friday, KCCA will need to win all those four matches to keep within the touching distance of the leaders. If that happens, Mutebi and his boys will finish the first half of the season placed second with 35 points, two adrift of Vipers.KCCA’s next engagement is a home game against debutants Kyetume.Comments last_img
