Aaron Katsuma Hired As Men’s Basketball Director of Operations

first_imgDES MOINES, Iowa – Drake University head men’s basketball coach Niko Medved has announced the hiring of Aaron Katsuma as the Bulldogs’ director of basketball operations.Katsuma joins Medved’s staff after spending the 2016-17 season as the assistant director of player personnel at the University of Minnesota.”Aaron is a great addition to our staff. He has a tremendous amount of experience handling a variety of responsibilities that go into running a successful basketball program,” Medved said. “Aaron is very good at connecting with people and will do a great job with our players.”Prior to his previous role, Katsuma spent two seasons as a graduate assistant with the Gophers after a four-year tenure as a student-manager.”I am very grateful and humbled by the opportunity that Coach Medved has given me to join his staff at Drake University,” Katsuma said. Having spent the past seven years at the University of Minnesota, I knew of Coach Medved and followed his teams at Furman. His teams compete extremely hard and are very well coached. I am excited to help build the Drake men’s basketball program and become a member of this great community.”During his seven seasons in Minneapolis, the Gophers made four postseason appearances including an NIT title in 2014 and NCAA Tournaments in 2013 and 2017.”I am proud of Aaron for taking the next step in his career,” said Minnesota head coach Richard Pitino. “He was a valuable member of our basketball program, and I could not be more excited for him.
