REMARKABLE SURF FILM TO HAVE ITS IRISH PREMIERE IN CO DONEGAL

first_imgA remarkable documentary on local surfer Easkey Britton is to have its Irish premiere in Co Donegal.Easkey Britton‘Into the Sea’, a feature length documentary directed by Marion Poizeau, follows Rossnowlagh native, and pro-surfer, Easkey Britton as she introduces a new sport in rural Iran – surfing.The film follows Easkey, Iranian pro snowboarder Mona and Iranian diver Shalha, as they journey to the remote southeastern region of Iran, Baluchistan where Mona and Shalha learn to surf with Easkey. The film shows how these three young women are encouraging more people to join them and how surf is becoming accepted and practiced by the local Baluchi community.Together they are planting the seed of surfing in Iran and making history by creating the first Iranian surf club.The film has already received praise and awards at the London Surf Film Festival, Tehran Documentary Festival and the Festival Sim Awards (CA).‘Into the Sea’ will have its Irish premiere at Bundoran Cineplex this Friday, 16th January, at 8.30pm as part of the Drew University Transatlantic Connections Conference Ireland and all ticket sales are in support of Waves of Freedom.
