However, the duo combined for 17turnovers, including two by Osborne in which he was stripped by Dorsey point gaurd Steve Bennett who raced to the other end for a easy score. Another miscue came with 4:08remaining, when Osborne fumbled the ball trying to get off a potential tying 3-pointer. Oregon State-bound senior Omari Johnson scored 24 points to lead the Dons. Johnson scored eight in the third quarter during a 10-2 Dorsey run. Junior Jordan Hamilton chipped in with 16 points for Dorsey. Dorsey’s victory not only moved them into Thursday’s semifinals at top-seed Fairfax of Los Angeles, but denied Chatsworth its first bid to the Div. I state tournament. CITY INVITATIONAL The Chatsworth High boys’ basketball team self-destructed in the final two minutes with several turnovers as visiting Dorsey of Los Angeles escaped Tuesday with a 60-56 victory in a City Section quarterfinal playoff game. Chatsworth (18-8) battled back from a 12-point second- half deficit with a 16-1run to take a 54-51 lead with five minutes remaining. University 47, North Hollywood 46: Jesse Zarate scored a team-high 12 points in the Huskies’ (21-12) loss to University of Los Angeles. Kenton Lee led the Wildcats (18-12) with 15 points. SOUTHERN SECTION PLAYOFFS DIV. IV-A Buckley 69, Whittier Christian 67: Richie Polan made two free throws with six seconds remaining to secure the first semifinal berth in program history for visiting Buckley of Sherman Oaks (23-6). Polan had 23 points and 18 rebounds, but it was the play of freshman Andrew Farhadi that was most instrumental for sixth-seeded Buckley. Farhadi was 7 of 7 from the field and scored 21 points, to go along with 18points, 10 rebounds and seven assists from Hussein Habibi in the win over the No. 3 Heralds (24-5). DIV. III-AA La Canada 75, Crossroads 68: Adam Malik scored 36 points for the Spartans, who trailed host Crossroads of Santa Monica 59-46 entering the fourth quarter, before rallying for the second-round win. Christian Nitu added 13 points for LaCanada (26-2). Merrick Ross scored a team-high 22 points for Crossroads (17-11). Oak Park 54, Monrovia 46: Kareem Maddox had 20 points and 13rebounds to lead Oak Park to a win against host Monrovia (14-14). Bobby Hillard added 14 points and 15 rebounds for the Eagles (22-6). Campbell Hall 99, Oaks Christian 34: Justin Holiday had 30 points, 16 rebounds and eight steals and Jrue Holiday had 28 points and seven assists as visiting Campbell Hall of North Hollywood routed Oaks Christian of Westlake Village. DIV. II-AA Burroughs 85, Temecula Valley 73: Jordan Lopez scored a game-high 25 points to lead host Burroughs of Burbank to a second-round victory over Temecula Valley (22-6). Marty Shin added 16 points for the Indians (18-11). DIV. I-AA Mater Dei 74, Westlake 53: Taylor King scored 24 points for Mater Dei of Santa Ana (27-3) in a second-round victory against Westlake.
